Let the Children Come to Me

This workshop will reflect on bringing all children into a relationship with God by providing religious educators an opportunity to explore the world of children with special needs, especially autism, while examining attitudes and current perspectives about special needs with an eye to starting a special needs program within the religious education program of the church--to inform, instruct, and inspire. This workshop includes the basic steps for starting a special needs program, resources, drama, music and art options to integrate the different learning styles of children with speical needs and personal testimony about working with a child with autism using simple, easily adaptable techniques.

Kathy Ritza

Kathy is currently the Director of Faith Formation at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar, CA. She has over 25 years of experience in catechesis as a parent, grandparent, catechist, DRE, retreat director, and is a Master Catechist for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She is also currently a consultant for RCL Benziger.
